Organize your
"mail sorting" area with a paper recycling container and/or
a shredder. Keep folders handy for bills and other pieces of mail that need
further attention. Be ruthless when going through your
mail - throw out/shred all the junk mail right away!

Once you've
organized areas of your home, make a point of spending one
or two minutes every day making sure everything gets put
back into the "homes" that you've made for them.
You'll love how easy and fast it takes to keep things neat
and orderly! |

Most of us have way too
many storage containers in our kitchens. Keep only the clear
ones with covers. Opaque containers (like those old
margarine tubs) seem only good for growing moldy food! |

Have you ever wanted to order
take-out but can’t find the menu? Buy a 3-ring binder and a
hole punch. Every time you come home with a menu, add it to
your binder. Keep the binder in the kitchen to reference on
those busy evenings. Keep an envelope handy in your binder
for those restaurant discount coupons too! |
|
Are you overwhelmed with too many
magazines? Why do we save so many that we never read again?
Start by making some folders of what you find interesting in
your magazines (e.g. recipes, home decorating ideas, gardening
advice). As you read, tear out what appeals to you and put it
into your new reference folders. It is much easier to access
the information and the magazine can be tossed into the recycle
bin. |

Are you a reader who has stacks
of books you can’t part with? Make your own library shelf to
hold only the books that have touched you in a special way and
which you would recommend and/or share with others. As you
read a new book ask yourself if it is “worthy” of being on your
library shelf. If it is not, donate the book to your local
library. |

Children generate mountains of
school work! Purchase large (3-4 in.) binders and label them
for each child. As they bring home their papers, sort them
immediately and keep only the most important. Hole punch the
papers into the binders for easy storage. Now when family
visits the children can sit down and easily show off their
accomplishments. |

What to do with all those Holiday
cards you receive? As you are packing up your decorations after
the holidays, pack those cards away too. Next season, after you
have reminisced over them, cut out the beautiful scenes from the
cards to use as new labels on this year’s gifts. Discard
the unused cards when you're through. |

Is it time to clear out that junk
drawer in the kitchen? Here’s how: Start by dumping out the
entire drawer. With a trash barrel by your side, throw out the
junk and sort all like items together. Set aside everything
that does not belong in your kitchen space. These items should
be relocated to their proper home. After deciding what will
remain in the kitchen, shop for a drawer organizer tray.
Remember to measure the drawer’s width and length. This will
help you keep the drawer tidy going forward. |
